How does one best defend the sovereingty of God?

I am a high school student participating in the California State Science Fair on Monday-Tuesday, May 22nd-23rd. My qualifying fair was the ACSI fair at Biola University last month, and part of participating in that fair was adding a “Biblical Application” to my project. In my application, I asserted that my project’s results (that the phases of the moon, eclipses, perigee, apogee, etc. do not affect the birth and death rates of human beings) show that God is sovereign. I used a passage from Job 38, Ecclesiasties 3, and Psalm 139.

That said, what on earth do I say to the communist USC professors when they ask me to defend the sovereingty of God?

HELP! and thank you!!

God is omnipotent – his sovereignty does not need defending. You could argue that it would be a waste of your time to defend the Supreme Being to people who do not believe in his existence, but would just like to point out the beauty of a budding rose; the smile of an innocent child; the uniqueness of each snowflake; the incredible “chance” of billions of people all having a different DNA and fingerprints and hope that they will understand your awe and your belief that there must be a superior intelligence involved. (Obviously, you use your own analogies).
