Pioneer dvd rom dvr-212 not working plz help?
Comp not detecting drive. in device manager it has a ? mark and when i try to update driver it says its the latest one

Ive tried the drivers from the UK site and it says available target not found?? PLz help
I have a Compaq desktop with the same problem. When it boots there are three beeps in a pattern two beeps pause another beep. In addition to the non-useable CD unit I also do not have a working sound card only the little speaker that beeps..
I pulled the CD/DVD burner from the computer put it into another desktop and the CD/DVD unit is fine, can read and write CD/DVDs. I changed out the power supply and still no sound, nor will it see another CD unit.
I have also loaded Linux from a USB stick and the cd unit is not available, to me it is a motherboard problem on this Presario S6000NX. www.puppylinux.com/flash-puppy.htm
I was under the impression I could easily locate a replacement motherboard on ebay. However since ebay stopped accepting US Postal Money Orders the inventory has decreased unbelievably and there were only two over priced exact matches.
Three months ago there were a number of motherboards for a similar HP with a dead motherboard. I would presume the competition made the prices better then, and a replacement was easily found. I Installed the used $25 replacement motherboard and the system came alive.
Think you have a problem, it requires a similar motherboard to keep your Microsoft Operating System alive if it was a brand name system.
If it was a whitebox sold by your local computer shop it will be an easy switch, take it back to the shop. If you computer is new, you should have a warranty to cover the repair. Please back-up your documents before shipping the computer off to a repair center…
