Pioneer Mosfet 50×4

What does “SLA” & “FIE” mean on my CD player display field? ?

I have a DEH 3400 made by Pioneer MOSFET 50X4.

SLA stands for “Source Level Adjust”. It lets you change the volume of the CD player or another source, relative to the volume of the tuner. For example, if you switch from the radio to the tuner and your CD sounds much softer, you can turn up the SLA control. If the CD sounds louder than the radio, you can turn down the SLA. Your CD deck will remember the setting, so you won’t have to adjust your volume every time you switch sources.

FIE stands for Front Image Enhance. Despite the name, it actually affects the rear speakers. When you turn on FIE, it cuts the high frequencies out of the rear speakers so that the front speakers seem to stand out more. The FIE number is the crossover setting; if you set it for 160, for example, the sound above 160Hz will be filtered out of the rear speakers.
