Wireless Power Transmission – Charting The History Of Nikola Tesla’s Discoveries
Wireless power transmission is not a pipe dream. It was discovered around one hundred years ago by electricity pioneer, Nikola Tesla. It is even in limited use today. In this article, I will tell you about these modern developments, how Tesla did much of the groundwork in their development and how you can make the most of it by generating your own electricity at home.
Today’s Appliances
There are examples all around the world today of wireless power transmission though it is only being used in limited cases and so much more could be done.
One of the best examples is in cellphones. You may have seen these new cellphone chargers that do not need connecting to a power source via a cable. Instead, a flat, rectangular base station is connected to the socket and several phones need only be placed close to the base in order to get charged up.
In fact, Nokia are scheduled to release a new type of phone technology that does not even require a base station at all. Instead, it is powered via radio waves from the air that are always around us.
Nikola Tesla’s Groundwork In Wireless Power Transmission
Tesla is responsible for many of our modern inventions. He discovered the laser, robotics, remote control, alternating current, wired power transmission but alsowireless power transmission too.
He was congratulated and widely respected by many of his peers, including Albert Einstein.
Tesla built a laboratory and transmitting tower on Long Island that was intended for the wireless transmission of signals and electricity to any point in the world. Given his earlier successes, there was no reason to doubt that he could make this happen. Especially as, prior to this in 1899, he produced the world’s largest ever man-made lightening bolt from his laboratory in Colorado Springs – a 130 foot long bolt whose accompanying thunder could be heard 22 miles away!
Unfortunately, funding for Tesla’s Long Island laboratory was taken away (in my opinion, due to conflicting interests) and his tower was demolished for wartime security reasons. Were it not for this episode then the world might be a much different place today with wireless power transmission being the norm.
How To Generate Your Own Electricity Using Wireless Power Transmission Technology
This area of research had much to do with the harnessing of “radiant energy” i.e. the energy all around us. For example, radio waves can be harnessed into a battery-less “cat’s whisker” radio or to charge a cellphone as described earlier. Tesla believed that this free energy is all around us and does not just consist of radio waves and other electromagnetic waves.
Today, the suppression continues. Governments will not recognise free energy because it destroys the status quo – a world reliant on fossil fuels and fighting for resources. To acknowledge free energy would be to tell the citizens of the world that all that we currently know is just a ruse and that we have had the wool pulled over our eyes.
So if you want to take advantage of this technology today, you must make your own device at home.
