Pioneer Rca Output Cord
My car stereo system is causing too much distortion. Need help?
Ok this is what going on. When my CD player turns on when I switch the ignition to DC or AC, I get a loud bump from my subs and sometimes I can hear it having a constant bump when I pause or turn the music down.
I have a Pioneer Premier DEH-P690UB CD Player. The back of the player has 2 RCA outputs on the far right side and a extra pair of RCA output cords (with a tag that says rear output) on the far left side. My stereo system was getting distortion when I had the RCA cable connected on the far right side where the 2 outputs are at. But when I switch the cables on the far left side outputs, the distortion disappears. Thats good news except now I can’t control my amp on the CD player.
Its probably my wires are screwed up but can anyone tell me whats goin on with my stereo system? I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

seems like your pioneer grounding on the RCA’s is messed up. this happens when theres a short in the electrical system. pioneer headunits are notorious for this problem since they use a very very small fuse that controls the RCA’s and are so easy to burn.
a cheap and easy fix for this is by grabbing a speaker wire. on one end, connect it to a ground cable. on the other end, loop it around the Rca behind the head unit thats giving you problems. — the cable SHOULD ONLY go on the outside of the Rca, not in the hole. the outer part is used for the ground and the hole is used for the other stuff.
if you do this, try to do it as clean as possible.
there are also these things called “ground-loop isolator” which help reduce distortion but most of them will have an impact on the music quality. for example, the highs might not be too loud/clear or the low frequencys might not be as loud as it should be. so the problem might get fixed with the isolator but will most likely mess the audio signal.
radio shack should carry them.
