Pioneer Receiver 1020
How do I hook up a Power Amp to my Pioneer vsx-1020 Receiver?
As of now I have a 5.1 speaker system hooked up to my receiver. I would like to run a power amp to my pioneer vsx 1020 receiver and run 5 speakers from the amp.
Can a power amp be hooked up to the Pioneer vsx1020 ?
And if yes where would I hook it up?
Would i be able to run 2 – 3 smaller power amps from the receiver to hook up the 5 speakers ?
Any suggestions on a good power amp under $1000 that would run 5 speakers.

I looked up the Pioneer vsx1020 on google. Dude (assuming you are male), this receiver can pump out 770 watts. What the hell do you need a power amp for? What speakers are you running? It’s a 7.1 channel receiver so it should have all the connector you need to run all your speakers. Simple division says you can power each output with 100 watts (well in layman term although technically it’s not like that) but you get the point. Unless you are running really high-end speakers (I am talking about speakers that cost $10,000 a piece) and have a huge media room, this receiver is more than enough to bring you roof down (so to speak). I think this is an overkill but I am not an AV expert. Just like a car, you can never have enough horsepower. I see people driving 500 HP cars to buy grocery at walmart and pickup kids at private schools in rush hour traffic whereas my 4 cyl car could do the same job! But it’s your choice. Good luck.
