Pioneer Sand
Outer Limits or Twilight Zone episode?
I remember an old b and w show in which a mother and father and their very sick son are traveling in a Conestoga wagon across a desert. The father takes off by himself looking for water and after passing over a sand dune, finds a modern (for 1960) diner by a highway. He gets water as well as medication for the sick son. The people at the diner look up the son’s name and find that he will become a pioneering pediatrician. The man then returns to the wagon and they continue on there way.
I have looked through the episode lists on Wiki and nothing rings a bell. Any ideas?

TWILIGHT ZONE! I see it every year during sci fi channel’s marathon. Hub and I were TZ FREAKS back in the day when we watched it at midnight after work.
“A Hundred Yards Over the Rim” is the title. Episode# 59, aired April 7, 1961.
