Pinnacle Process International Ceo Discusses Strategies For Businesses In Downturn

Narayan Laksham, CEO of Ultriva, (www.ultriva.com) had an important discussion with Adil Dalal the founder & CEO of Pinnacle Process Solutions, International.   Recently the lean kanban leader announced that the company entered a strategic alliance with Pinnacle Process International (www.pinnnacleprocess.com).  Adil Dalal serves as a Program Chair for SME Austin Chapter and as a Director for PMI, Austin Chapter. He is an adjunct professor in the MSPM program and teaches supplier negotiations and contracts, project management and leadership.

He is an internationally recognized expert in flow/lean manufacturing. He has published articles, and has been a keynote speaker at several industry group seminars including ASQ, SME, IIE Operation Excellence Conference, ASME, PMI Leadership conferences. As a lean practitioner, he has helped a number of corporations and executives in USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia implement a successful lean strategy within their organizations. Adil is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and a Certified Executive & Life Coach. He holds a Masters in Engineering Management, a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelors in Automotive Engineering.

Pinnacle’s philosophy differs from the traditional approach such as cutting costs in dealing with a downturn in business according to Adil.  “Consultants and the top corporations understand that Lean is one of the greatest tools invented to eliminate waste with surgical precision from processes and systems.  They also understand that the employees are the potential doctors and nurses that can be trained to use the Lean ‘surgical tool’ to eliminate waste, maximize profits, and foster long-term growth for the corporation.   However, some consultants and corporations have used the Lean tool as a weapon to slash costs and layoff employees, sometimes referred to the ‘fat or waste.’ This has given the term ‘Lean’ a negative meaning.  Sometimes tough choices have to be made and layoffs are inevitable, but the decision to reduce the workforce during a downturn should be an exception, not a rule.  I strongly believe that downturns are not the time to push the employees down, but to pull them up.  This is the time employees need to feel secure, motivated, and productive.  People that are highly motivated can tap into the core of their creativity and achieve results beyond their wildest dreams.  Corporations that have a longer-term vision use the bad times as a ‘burning platform’ to motivate their employees to innovate, and take the corporation to the next level.  I believe that sustainable long-term growth can be realized in any economy without the traditional approach of slashing jobs.”
