Pioneer Tv Plasma 50 Inch
Is there much of difference in picture quality or preformance between Pioneer Elite 1130 and Elite 1140?
I am in a process of purchasing a 50 inch plasma and have narrowed it down to the Pioneer Elite 1140 or the 1130. I know the 1140 is the newer model and usually the latest model should have a better picture or quality. My only hung up is the fact that the 1130 comes with a seperate tuner, which I have been told may be an advantage since you have to only have one cable attached from the tuner to the TV. In your opinion does that out weigh the upgrade to the newer model? Your input is greatly appreciated.
I have a pioneer pdp-4330 hd which has an external media box and it doesn’t just have one cable going to the display, it has the power cord and two cables from the media box going up to the display. I just purchased the elite 1140 and it only has the power cord and one cable from the cable tv box going to the display and one less box to deal with (no media box). Also you can get rid of the cable box with this unit if you get a cable card from your cable company and insert it into the slot in the back of the display and just run the coaxail cable direct to the display. The only drawback is that you can’t use any interactive function that the cable may provide with a box like video on demand or pay per view. The unit also has alot of new ports such as a LAN port, USB port, ethernet hook up and pc port. The picture quality seemed crisper than the 1130 in the store but that could of been the way it was calibrated. Personally I perferred the 1140 for all the future possiblities that it has plus the price difference wasn’t much if anything at all.
