Teac Ag V8525
Is this stereo receiver a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound?
I am looking to buy my dad a new home theater receiver to replace his broken one. The one he has is a TEAC AG-V8525. It has four front speaker outputs, two rear speaker outputs, and one center speaker output. Is this 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound?
Also, if anyone knows a good one to replace this please let me know (hopefully around $300 or less)
Thanks for any help
I’m not familiar with that model, but I am with the brand. TEAC has been around for decades. I can tell you from your description, that is has 2 sets of front speaker terminals (likely A and B) and then a center channel terminals and 2 rear channel terminals. It has a preamp output for a stand alone powered subwoofer system.
With that said, it is a 5.1 channel surround audio/video receiver.
For about $300 I would recommend you get him either the Onkyo TX-SR308 (or last years model, the TX-SR307), or the Pioneer VSX-520-K. I have had the best success with these brands for the best balance performance and reliability for the money from my 30 years of experience with many different brands.
I’m sure you will find the best prices on these at either eBay or Amazon or perhaps you would rather buy from a quality local retailer in your area (i.e. Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc.) as well. Actually for me, if I were to buy in my local area, I would opt for a family owned audio/video store to help out the local businesses and the local economy if that’s your cup of tea.
Happy shopping!
