Teac Air
Help with signal on a new digital ready television? (Adelaide, Australia)?
I bought a Teac television yesterday, because I could no longer stand my family wanting to watch terrible reality shows while I want to watch Doctor Who and Craig Ferguson.
Maybe I’m exceedingly thick, but I thought it just picked the channels out of the air. To my disappointment when i installed it last night there was no signal on any of the channels.
It’s not connected to anything but the mains power. What else to I need to get the channels?

You can get channels out of the air, but most televisions do not include built-in antennas. You will need to install one on the television set.
If you are within about 20 miles a major city from which television broadcasts originate you can use an indoor antenna. These are available at your local electronics stores. If you are further away you may need a rooftop antenna. Generally, the best option with these is to contact a professional installer who can install one for you (correctly).
The other option is to purchase a pay service such as cable television or satellite television. These typically offer more channels however they do have a monthly fee.
