Teac Decoder

Can I watch HDTV Channels with my Teac SDB440?

I have a standard tv (not HDTV) and a Teac SDB440 set top box.

My set top box shows in the channel list, HD channels but whenever I select those ones the tv just goes blank with a message saying this is a HD channel. Do I really need a HD aerial to get it to work, or a decoder or something?

You need an HDTV, thats why you don’t see a picture. HDTV broadcasts at much higher resolutions that a standard tv cannot display. The channel list will list every channel your cable or satellite provider offers, that doesn’t mean you can get all those channels. It may list HBO but unless you pay for HBO you are not going to see anything. So in order to see HD signals you need an HDTV.
