Teac External Floppy Drive Drivers

pcmcia drivers problem?

hi guys
i have a old compaq amarda which has been formatted using a windows 98 start up disk
it has a floppy drive and a pcmcia cd roms drive(no internal drive)
the problem is “how can you boot from the pcmcia cd rom and install a operating system”
this applies to windows 98 and me(using a start up disk)and with windows xp(boot from cd)
if the cd rom was internal it wouldnt be a problem, however as its a external pcmcia cd rom(teac) it wont recognize the drive
is there are dos driver for a pcmcia cd rom and if so how would you install it
any help would be appreciated
cheers guys !

You need to make a boot floppy with the PCMICA drivers on it.

The laptop most likely came with one but for some reason it don’t exist any more.

I will tell you HP/Compaq may have one but don’t be disappointed if they don’t.

If you have the DOS drivers for it,
Copy them to the boot floppy
Then edit the config.sys to add the driver to the start up.
In some cases you may also need to add the driver to the autoexec.bat file.

The commands for what to add will be with the driver.

This is the best I can do with the information you provided.

Just a little geek yuk yuk trivia
